Easy Baked Home-Made Chocolate Donuts

  • 1 cup flour*
  • ¼ cup cocoa powder
  • ½ tsp baking powder
  • ½ tsp baking soda
  • 1/8 tsp salt
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 cup sugar
  • 1.3 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup plain yogurt
  • 2 tbsp ghee
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Preheat oven to 350F. Grease a donut pan with ghee. Set aside

Whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda and salt in a large bowl. Set aside

In another bowl, whisk egg with sugar until mixed well. Add milk, yogurt, melted ghee and vanilla and whisk until combined. Pour in the four mixture and mix until just combined.

Fill donut molds about 2/3 full (easiest to use a piping bag for this).

Bake 10 minutes. Cool on a wire rack before icing or glazing.

*For gluten-free version, substitute flour for equal parts all-purpose gluten free flour. If your gluten free flour doesn’t have xanthan gum already in it,  add ½ tsp to the flour mixture

  • 1/2 cup chocolate chips (semi-sweet or dark)
  • 3 tbsp heavy cream
  • 2 tbsp ghee

Melt the chocolate chips, cream and ghee in a double boiler until smooth. Dip the tops of the donuts into the glaze and place on a cooling rack to set.
